Well, listen up because Beyoncé's stylist, Rita Hazan, just spilled the tea – "Chantilly" is the official color of the season! Picture this: a creamy blonde with that perfect touch of warmth. But you know, I'm feeling a bit more gingered-up this fall. Blame Sza’s gingered hair phase, What a moment.

Dominique Jones, Master Cosmetologist

Q: "Being a color enthusiast, we're curious, what's your favorite hair color trend for 2023, whether it's for summer or fall? What has you most excited, and why?"

Dominique: "Oh, absolutely! Right now, I'm all about gingers. There's just something about the versatility of ginger shades that's truly exciting. You can lean more towards the red side for that classic ginger look, or you can flirt with the blonde side for a fresh twist. Recently, I had a client torn between ginger and red, and I was secretly hoping she'd go for the ginger. But, you know, everyone has their go-to. Ginger just brings this warmth and vibrancy that's perfect for any season."

Q:How do using box dyes make it tricky to control hair color? Tell us more about the problems it can cause and why going to a salon for hair care is important?

Dominique: When it comes to box dyes, the issue lies in the lack of control over the color intensity. Box dyes typically consist of two separate parts—the cream and the developer. While applying, users often find it challenging to control the strength of the color. Unlike salon treatments where professionals can use varying volumes like 10, 20, or 30, box dyes lack this flexibility. The motivation behind this is clear – the manufacturers want consumers to keep using their product repeatedly. Consequently, they might not provide clear instructions on application.

Q:How can we keep our colored hair looking fresh and vibrant? Especially with all the different colors we love to experiment with?"

Dominique: “Totally get it! So, to keep those vibrant colors alive, you've got to use the right products. There are shampoos designed specifically for different hair colors. Like, if you've got red hair, Joico has this awesome shampoo made just for reddish hues. Here's the cool part - the shampoo itself is red, and it deposits a bit of color while you're washing. It's like magic! But the key thing is to keep your hair hydrated. Dry hair makes colors look dull, not what we want, right? So, find a shampoo that matches your hair color, whether it's blonde, silver, or any shade in between. Also, go for hydrating treatments – they're like a drink for your hair. And, oh, steer clear of shampoos with salt. Trust me, hydration is the secret sauce for vibrant, healthy-colored hair!"

Q: "For those who prefer a more natural look with colored hair, any recommendations for keeping it healthy and moisturized?"

Dominique: "Absolutely! If you're into that straight natural vibe with a pop of color, I've got the perfect go-to for you. Matrix has this fantastic product line called 'Food for Soft,' and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for moisture and hydration. I swear by it – I use it on all my clients who go for that sleek and colored style. You might find it on Amazon, or better yet, check out your local salon. They often carry it. Trust me, it's amazing!"
